Hyderabad, Telangana: A late-night bike ride turned fatal after a KTM Duke rider allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a road divider in Hyderabad. The accident, which was captured on a mobile phone camera, claimed the life of the rider while the pillion passenger escaped with minor injuries.
According to police, the crash took place around 2:15 am on the intervening night of June 15 and 16 near the Kali Mandir-TSPA stretch under the jurisdiction of the Narsingi Traffic Police.
Investigators said the motorcycle was travelling at a very high speed when the rider allegedly lost control and slammed into a small advertisement board installed on the road median. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the rider critically injured.
Police suspect the rider was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that overspeeding and impaired driving may have contributed to the accident.
“The rider appears to have been travelling at excessive speed and was unable to negotiate the stretch safely,” a police official said. Authorities are awaiting further technical analysis and evidence to determine the exact speed of the motorcycle before the collision.
The rider died on the spot due to the severity of the impact. The pillion rider survived with minor injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials confirmed that no other vehicle was involved in the accident. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
The tragic incident was reportedly recorded on a mobile phone by the riders themselves moments before the crash, highlighting the dangers of reckless riding and speeding on city roads during late-night hours.
