Two Shooters Arrested After Police Encounter in Yamuna Khadar Murder Case

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested two alleged shooters wanted in connection with the murder of a man in northeast Delhi’s Yamuna Khadar area following a brief encounter, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Atif and Ismail, were allegedly involved in the daylight killing of Rashid, a murder that had sparked concern in the area after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced.

According to police, the accused were captured on surveillance cameras allegedly opening fire on Rashid in broad daylight before fleeing the scene. Since the murder, multiple police teams had been working to trace their whereabouts.

Acting on specific intelligence, police located the suspects and attempted to intercept them. Officials said the accused allegedly tried to evade arrest, leading to a brief encounter before they were apprehended.

Both suspects had reportedly been on the run since the murder and were being actively tracked by investigators. Following their arrest, police recovered weapons and other evidence believed to be linked to the crime. The exact details of the recovery have not yet been disclosed.

Investigators are now questioning the accused to determine the motive behind the killing and whether any other individuals were involved in planning or executing the attack.

The murder of Rashid had drawn significant attention due to the brazen nature of the crime, which was carried out in a public area during daytime. CCTV footage played a crucial role in helping investigators identify and track the suspects.

Police said further investigation is underway, and efforts are continuing to uncover the full conspiracy behind the murder.
