Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking case of kidnapping and murder of a seven-year-old boy has sent shockwaves across Meerut, with residents demanding swift justice and accountability from authorities.
According to police and local reports, the child was allegedly abducted in broad daylight from outside his home by individuals travelling in a car. CCTV footage from the area reportedly captured the moment the boy was lured into the vehicle and taken away.
The victim, identified as Angad, was living with his grandmother while his father worked in Saudi Arabia. Family members said the child had been playing outside the house when the suspects arrived and allegedly took him away.
The family claims that despite informing the police about the kidnapping, immediate action was not taken. Senior police officials later intervened after the case gained attention.
During the investigation, police detained several suspects and launched intensive searches. Authorities now believe the child was murdered after the abduction, and efforts are underway to recover his body. Search operations have been focused around the Ganga Canal, where investigators suspect the body may have been dumped.
Sources indicate that a suspect identified as Arpit Sharma, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district, has been taken into custody along with several associates. The victim’s grandmother had reportedly named Sharma in her complaint after villagers claimed to have seen him inside the vehicle used in the kidnapping.
While police have not yet officially disclosed the motive, investigators are examining multiple angles, including personal disputes and relationships linked to the accused.
The case has sparked outrage across Meerut, with residents questioning how the kidnappers were able to move freely despite passing through multiple police jurisdictions. The incident has also raised concerns about the initial police response following the child’s disappearance.
