– As Head of Marketing at a startup is a strategic, hands-on growth driver responsible for building brand awareness, generating leads, and setting marketing strategy with limited resources. They oversee all marketing channels (digital, social, traditional), manage budgets, mentor a lean team, and align closely with sales and product teams to drive acquisition and revenue to meet business objectives.

Team Reporting to this role – Marketing function

Job Objective & Key Interactions
– Strategy & Planning: Craft comprehensive marketing plans and strategies to reach company goals, including market segmentation and targeting data driven growth campaigns tailored to startup needs
– Leadership & Management: Mentor, hire, and manage the marketing team, driving performance and facilitating collaboration across departments
– Brand Positioning: Oversee brand messaging, identity, and consistency across all channels
– Campaign Management: Lead the creation and execution of marketing campaigns (digital, traditional, social media, PR)
– Budgeting & ROI: Allocate resources, manage budgets, and analyze the ROI for marketing spend to maximize impact
– Data Analysis: Use data analytics to measure campaign performance and adjust strategies, focusing on customer acquisition and retention
– Market Intelligence: Monitor competitors, industry trends, and consumer behavior to identify new opportunities.
Skills / Knowledge
– Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential
– Should be willing to work in dynamic and changing environment.
– Ability to explain numbers with proper analysis and justification
– Good in creating a revenue pipeline as business case study and ability to start from ZERO to multiple XXX
– Ability to pivot strategies quickly and thrive in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment
– Strong ability to measure performance, use web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and report insights
– Deep understanding of digital acquisition channels, content marketing, and influencer partnerships
– Proficiency in CRM platforms, social media management tools, and AI-driven content tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini)
– Knowledge of performance marketing platforms like Meta and Google Ads
Education & Experience
– Having PGD / MBA or equivalent from well-regarded institutes having 12/15 + years of experience within Marketing function and last few years in a Leadership role
– Having experience of working with start-ups and grown in making them Unicorns would be an advantage
– Work and improve on internal observations and controls.
– Defining new processes and gearing up the organization for future
– Prior working experience within industries like – FMCG / FMCD / Luxury Retail / Sports / Automobile / Cosmetics / Jewellery / Telecom/ Ceramics and Sanitary Ware or similar B2C2D domains is must
