Man Shot Dead by Four Assailants in South Delhi; Relative Under Suspicion

New Delhi: A 42-year-old man was shot dead by four assailants in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area early Wednesday morning in what police suspect was a fallout of an old rivalry. Investigators are probing the possible involvement of the victim’s cousin in the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Hridayesh Mishra, who worked in the construction sector.

According to police, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. near a local temple in Sangam Vihar. Mishra had gone to the area along with his brother, Ajay Mishra, on a motorcycle to move a mini truck that was parked nearby.

As the brothers reached the spot, four armed men allegedly approached and opened fire on Hridayesh Mishra. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and collapsed at the scene.

Family members and local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Old Rivalry Suspected

Preliminary investigations suggest the murder may be linked to an ongoing personal dispute or old enmity. Police sources said suspicion has fallen on one of Mishra’s relatives, believed to be his cousin, who may have orchestrated the attack.

Multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and statements of witnesses are being recorded.

Police Investigation Continues

A case of murder has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend all those involved in the killing. Officials said the exact motive behind the crime will become clearer as the investigation progresses.

The incident has triggered concern among local residents, with police increasing surveillance in the area to prevent any further escalation.
