Bengaluru: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Wing, along with several city police units, has dismantled a large drug and illicit tobacco supply network across Bengaluru. A total of 23 people, including foreign nationals and interstate operatives, have been arrested.
The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement and distribution of narcotics in the city. Coordinated raids were carried out in multiple areas, including Hebbal, Indiranagar, Jeevan Bheemanagar, Suddaguntepalya, Hennur, Banaswadi, Ulsoor, and K.G. Halli.
According to police, those arrested include two foreign nationals, six individuals from other states, and fifteen local residents allegedly involved in the illegal network.
Contraband Worth ₹4 Crore Seized
During the raids, authorities recovered a massive quantity of narcotic substances and banned tobacco products valued at approximately ₹4 crore. The seizure includes:
- 5.36 kg of hydro ganja
- 10.99 kg of ganja
- 143 grams of cocaine
- 237 grams of MDMA
- 107 grams of methamphetamine
Police also confiscated large quantities of prohibited tobacco and vaping products, including:
- 1,197 e-cigarettes
- 180 boxes of e-cigarette oil and vaping products
- 452 boxes of imported cigarettes
- 490 foreign cigarettes
- 1,206 hookah cigarettes
- 120 hookah sets
- 100 e-cigarette refills
Investigation Underway
Officials said the operation dealt a significant blow to the city’s illegal drug trade. Investigators are now examining the supply chain, financial transactions, and possible links to larger interstate and international narcotics networks.
Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations and taking strict action against those involved in narcotics trafficking.
