Noida Society Basement Parking Accident: Mother and 5-Year-Old Daughter Dragged Nearly 10 Metres by Car, CCTV Footage Goes Viral
Noida, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking accident in the basement parking area of a residential society in Noida has raised serious concerns about vehicle safety inside housing complexes. A speeding car allegedly hit a woman and her five-year-old daughter, trapping them underneath and dragging them for nearly 10 metres.
The incident occurred at Mahagun Mirabella Society in Sector 79, Noida, and was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the basement. The footage has since gone viral on social media.
According to reports, a software engineer and her family were returning to their apartment on Sunday night after unloading belongings from their vehicle. The woman, her husband, and their two daughters were walking through the basement parking area when a Honda Amaze suddenly appeared from a turn at high speed.
Residents said the parking area has a speed limit of 10 km/h, but the vehicle was allegedly travelling much faster. CCTV footage reportedly shows the car striking the woman and her younger daughter directly.
Witnesses claimed that both victims became trapped underneath the vehicle and were dragged for several metres before the car came to a stop. The woman’s husband and elder daughter narrowly escaped the collision.
Panic broke out in the parking area as residents rushed to help. The child was quickly pulled out from beneath the vehicle, but the woman remained trapped under the car. According to eyewitnesses, she was stuck for nearly four minutes before residents managed to lift the vehicle and rescue her.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. The five-year-old girl was discharged after receiving primary treatment. However, the woman sustained serious injuries and remains under medical care.
Doctors reportedly found multiple fractures, including three fractured ribs and a broken collarbone. She also suffered significant injuries to her head and shoulder, while heat and friction from the vehicle caused severe burns to her abdomen. She later underwent surgery.
The incident has sparked debate among residents regarding safety measures in the society’s basement parking area. Many pointed out that the parking zone contains blind turns where drivers must exercise extreme caution. Some residents also argued that better visibility systems, warning signs, and convex safety mirrors could have helped prevent the accident.
Police from Sector 113 Police Station reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. A case has been registered based on the family’s complaint, and the driver has been taken into custody.
Officials said preliminary medical tests did not indicate that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about reckless driving inside residential societies and the need for stricter enforcement of speed limits and safety regulations in parking areas frequented by families and children.
