Pune, Maharashtra: Pune Police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) has busted an alleged prostitution racket operating from a hotel in the Shivajinagar area and rescued a foreign national during a targeted raid.
According to officials, the Crime Branch received information about suspected illegal activities being conducted from a hotel near the ST Stand area in Shivajinagar. Acting on the tip-off, police deployed a decoy customer to verify the allegations before launching the operation.
After confirming the information, a police team raided the hotel and detained a foreign woman who was allegedly being exploited through the racket. During the investigation, police gathered information about the involvement of two alleged agents who were reportedly arranging customers and facilitating the operation.
Further inquiries led police to another hotel on Senapati Bapat Road, where additional action was taken. Authorities detained two suspects believed to be involved in procuring and managing clients.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, police said. Officials are also investigating whether the network was connected to a larger trafficking operation and whether more individuals were involved.
The rescued woman has been shifted to a safe facility, where she will receive assistance and counselling. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances under which she came to India and whether she was coerced or trafficked.
Senior police officials said the operation was conducted under the supervision of Crime Branch officers and members of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining financial records, communication details, and hotel documents to identify additional suspects
