Businessman, Driver Abducted by Armed Gang in Bengaluru; ₹1.09 Crore Looted

Bengaluru: In a daring daylight crime, a 41-year-old businessman and his driver were allegedly abducted by an armed gang and robbed of cash worth ₹1.09 crore in Bengaluru, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on June 15 within the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli Police Station on the outskirts of the city.

According to a complaint filed by R I Shivashankar, he and his driver, Chethan, were returning home after collecting ₹74 lakh from a hotel in Yelahanka following a meeting with business associates. Police said the duo was carrying a substantial amount of cash when they were intercepted by unidentified men.

Investigators said the armed suspects allegedly abducted the businessman and his driver, threatened them, and robbed them of a total of ₹1.09 crore before fleeing from the scene.

Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and began reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects and trace their movements. Multiple teams have been formed to track down the gang.

Officials suspect the accused may have had prior knowledge of the cash transaction and are probing whether the robbery was planned using insider information.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
