Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh: A young man allegedly posing as a police officer was caught inside the Mirzapur Collectorate premises after his appearance and behavior raised suspicion among officials and visitors.
According to reports, the youth was roaming around the Collectorate wearing a police uniform and allegedly trying to project authority. However, people present at the spot became suspicious after noticing inconsistencies in his appearance, including his hairstyle, beard, ill-fitting uniform, and the single star displayed on his shoulder.
When questioned, the man reportedly claimed that he had been posted to the Women’s Police Station located within the Collectorate complex and had arrived there to join duty.
His explanation, however, failed to convince officials. Further inquiries reportedly revealed discrepancies in his claims, prompting authorities to detain him for verification.
Police personnel present at the premises questioned the suspect about his identity, posting details, and official documents. As suspicions grew, it became clear that he was allegedly not a serving police officer.
The incident quickly drew attention from onlookers, with videos and photographs of the alleged fake officer circulating on social media. Many users reacted with amusement, while others raised concerns about how easily someone could allegedly enter a government complex wearing a police uniform.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the man’s motive and whether he used the fake identity to gain access to restricted areas or influence members of the public.
Police are also examining whether the accused has impersonated a law enforcement officer elsewhere in the past.
